A Very Basic Lesson: What are Adwords?

A Very Basic Lesson: What are Adwords?

When a person is looking to the answer for something, the traditional way would be to look at the encyclopedia or to check out reference books. But if you want to make your life a little bit easier, the new way to get answers right now is to search it in Google or any search engine. How do search engines work? Well, it’s somewhat of an algorithmic science and mystery I will not go into now. But they search the internet for posts that are relevant to the topic you are searching for usually by word per word relevance. The good thing about Google and any other search engine is that they also allow the searching user to see ads that are relevant to what he or she is searching for. These ads help that user get to links that help them get what they want or need.
On the other end, this allows small online retailers who don’t have a physical store or a small time business who can’t afford extravagant advertising an opportunity to present their products and services to a wider public. However, this does not just involve you making an ad and that is already an automatic hit and people will already like your ad. There are certain techniques you need to know in order to get a good CTY or Click Through Rate. The higher your CTR is the bigger chances for your ad to be places on the top of other ads by Google and the cheaper you pay them. Hence, making the right ad is essential for your business.
When using Adwords, first, you need to choose the right ad words – otherwise known as keywords. Brainstorm or use the tools in Google to search for relevant keywords that people click on. If you are, for example, offering a product about female hair thinning most probably here are the relevant keywords:
-Female hair loss
-Natural Remedy for hair loss
-Hair loss treatment
-Chemotherapy hair loss
You can dig deeper with Google’s Keyword Tool, which I highly recommend, and we could get into lots of information on keyword strategies, but for now, let’s keep this very basic and simple. Once you have your keywords, proceed to making an ad.
First, to make an ad you have to make sure you are addressing specifically what the customer is looking for.  For your headline in your Adwords, put in something like “Natural Remedy for Hair Loss-Get it now!” The ad would look interesting because the user would already know you are selling a product for hair loss and they might be interested.
The description should be short enough to cover almost everything about your product but not to leave the interesting things out. Like, for example, if you are going for a discount for early buyers your description might say, “20% discount for the next 2 days”. Remember, your ad should be legitimate and not to just solicit a click or else Google will penalize your ad.
The display URL and the URL link should be the same as well or you risk punishment from the gods in Google, this is the link the people will be diverted to if ever they will click your ad.
This is using Adwords at the very basic level.  Stay tuned for more in-depth information on how you can use Adwords in your home or small business.  Don’t forget to share this post if you found it helpful!
